The Valley of the Moon (Valle de la Luna, San Pedro de Atacama) is a tourist attraction located 13 km west of San Pedro de Atacama and 110 km southeast of Calama, in the Region of Antofagasta. In 1982 it was declared a nature sanctuary and belongs to the national reserve “Los Flamencos”. In the middle of the Salt Mountain Range, the Central Crater, the Tres Marias and the Amphitheatre give the illusion of being on another planet. This place is one of the wonders of the Chilean desert you absolutely should not miss.
