Não poderia ser diferente e para quem não vai ficar no hotel, somente para banho e dormir é realmente uma ótima opção. A qualidade do sono é muito boa.

Evelyn and Victor are excellent hosts. Check in was quick, room was ready and clean. And to our surprise we had enough number of essentials for the five of us.... read more Most places we had to ask for the 5th towel as it was assumed we were only four people. Kids had good space outside to run around without fear of cars or running into people. All the staff were friendly and always willing to help. Breakfast was a good spread. They also accommodated our early morning trip to the Geyser by giving us take away breakfast. Plenty of parking if you are planning to rent a car.

Good places and decent prices seem to be hard to find in San Pedro so I suppose Dunas might be one of the better choices. Our room was spacious and... read more clean, a bit dark though, breakfast was at best ok, but the location is great as it is directly at the edge of the city center making it quiet but also easy to walk everywhere. Also they offer parking which is an added benefit in this town.

Friendly staff, but very little English spoken---thank goodness for cell phone translations. This quaint motel is close to town (about 4-7 minutes walk). Easy to find for the tour companies.... read more Clean rooms, breakfast included --bread, yogurt, instant coffee, tea--
Rooms are clean and spacious but lighting is minimal after dark. There are lights but very low wattage. Wifi is excellent.

Cold winter nights beaten by warm bed and mattresses. We stayed the whole stay in San Pedro de Atacma here. No fault to point towards anyone or anything. Staffs speak... read more English, but! hey, we speak zero Spanish. Our boy picked up some Spanish from staffs here

We only stayed one night but would have stayed a bit longer. Hotel is at 3-5 min of walking from the city center and in a quiet area. We had... read more a little terrace which was a nice little perk to the room. It was overall clean, comfortable beds with a heating mattress padding to keep you warm at night.
The staff was very nice and helpful, although the receptionist didn’t speak English.
We managed to make each other understand one another.

A nice clean and comfortable hotel a few streets back from the centre of town but as the town is small walking everywhere was very easy. The room was a... read more good size but a bit cold initially until we let the sun's warmth in. It has very thick walls which will keep it cool in summer & I assume, warm in winter but you would need a heater. The staff were friendly and provided an adequate breakfast.

We chose Hotel Dunas based on TA reviews, price and location. It was a good choice at a good price for San Pedro. The rooms are a bit small, but... read more that was not a big issue. More of a problem was that they were fairly dark, some brighter lights would have come in handy. I preferred to sit out on the patio to read, check emails (great WiFi reception) and enjoy the sunshine, as it was pretty cold inside. It didn't matter at night, though, as the very comfortable beds have electric blankets. In summer it would probably be very nice to sit out in your own little courtyard, but the high walls didn't let much sun in when we were there, so the space was a bit wasted.
The bathroom was also quite tiny, but the shower always had hot water, and that's what was most important for us. And it was clean, and soap and shampoo were provided.
Storage space was a bit limited, but for a few days this was okay.
Breakfast was basic but fine, and you could have a cup of tea and a bite to eat even if you had to leave early to go on a tour. There was always someone friendly at reception, though English was a problem. Still, we managed to get our tickets to Calama airport booked. And we also managed to convey that we would like to store our luggage and get our washing done (CLP2000 per kilo) while we went on a Salar de Uyuni tour.
As long as you know what to expect I think Hotel Dunas is a great base for a stay in San Pedro. I'd happily stay here again were I to return to San Pedro, which I hope I'll have a chance to do, as there is a lot more to see than we had time for.
